BBC Horizon documentary/dramatization examining Albert Einstein’s battle against the quantum theories that emerged from his own ground breaking discoveries. This led to one of the great philosphical debates in the history of science between Einstein and Neils Bohr.
Bohr’s quantum mechanics revealed a fundamentally probabalistic universe. The concept so disgusted Einstein that he famously proclaimed “God does not play dice!”. Bohr retorted “Einstein, stop telling God what to do!”
The ageing Einstein spent his latter years futilely working on his Theory of Everything while his stubbornness meant he was missing out the great advances in physics going on around him. Advances, which someday, may actually lead to a Theory of Everything.
